During this World Cup I got a chance to draw cartoons in a Mid-day news paper" Kerala Kaumudi Flash". Daily it published my cartoons except on sundays and two days when Kerala
celebrated Harthal! Really It was a challenge to find out non political ideas. I have searched and searched all sectors of life and I am now fully satisfied that I did justice to my job. And of course I have criticised myself in a cartoon. I think a cartoonist must criticise himself and laught at his own expense. Because a cartoonist criticises everybody and others must have equal and opposite right to criticise cartoonist. "He" is not above criticism!!!
During the honoring ceremonyof Cartoonist Peter( a malayalee cartoonist was a staff cartoonist in a Tamil daily!), there was a live demo at chennai, I was drawing facial expressions.. and suddenly a boy stood up and asked me to draw " Michael Jackson" and I was, for few seconds, embarrassed and..without knowing my situation cartoonist Kollam Pappachan announced:"Now Balu sir will draw " Michael jackson!" and..what happened?
